Also called peppercorn, the flowering vine produces one of the most widely used spices worldwide which has been used for millennia. Native to the south and southeast asia regions, black pepper boasts a melange of complex pungent aromas from earthy to heated flavors always enhancing the taste of anything it gets put into.
Cambodia, especially Kampot province, is gifted with perfect soil and climatic conditions for pepper production which makes it home to the renowned Kampot pepper. Its cultivation was recorded all the way since the 13th century.
We, at our medicinal forest garden, are meticulously tapping into black pepper production which is also established in the nearby Kulen Mountains. The spice is rich in piperine, a plant compound, which not only is responsible for the pepper’s bold heat but is also packed with antioxidants that may be linked to preventing premature aging, inflammation, and certain cancers. It also promotes the absorption of essential nutrients such as calcium and selenium among other beneficial compounds. Our gin features black pepper.
