Wildly grown in the forests of tropical and subtropical Asia, especially the Cardamom Mountains in the Cambodian South, this spice has also meticulously made its way to the Kulen Mountains. Their growth demands careful attention with specific moisture, humidity, and shaded conditions to be met. This high maintenance, however, bears fruit as the spindle-shaped spice has a unique flavor described as a “herbal warmth like a fragrant cross between a eucalyptus, mint, and pepper”. The aromatic scent aside, it also has antioxidants, diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, and relaxing effects linked to improved breathing and oxygen intake. Its strong aroma and taste can be found in our gin and herbal tea.
