This aromatic plant native to South and Southeast Asia has deep roots in folk medicine. Considered a tonic for the mind, body, and spirit, its medicinal properties include reducing stress and anxiety, speeding up wound healing processes, and easing inflammation among other benefits. They grow up to 60 cm tall with straight hairy stems and ovate leaves protruding out.
The Forest Garden grows a considerable amount of the herb harvesting them just before they flower ensuring their maturity and giving us the best and strongest possible taste. Its aromatic smell is accompanied by a sharp pungent taste described as “warm and smoky” with peppermint and clove overtones. They provide another dimension in terms of flavor in both our herbal tea and gin.
